No Prisoner, Outlaw Heroes Standing

Two new cd`s in stock at Label 56 are Italian hardcore band No Prisoner and Russian straight edge hardcore band Outlaw Heroes Standing. In our upcoming radio show we discuss both of these bands as well as the music scene in their respective countries in much more detail than what is posted here, as well as many other goings on in our music scene.

Label 56 Radio Update

Just to let everyone know, myself and Doug Sacred from Uprise Direct went through a couple practice runs this past weekend for our new upcoming radio show. Saga Lyrics

The lyrics below are from two songs off the Saga cd On My Own. This is a great cd composed entirely by Saga herself (which is where the name On My Own comes from). The music is something fairly original in our music scene as it is based mostly around the piano with sort of a “pop” sound in the music surrounding it. These lyrics once again deal with the complacency of people in bettering society and how they seek to cast the blame on everyone else for their failure to act. The second song One Nation Arise is an inspirational call for our people to right what is wrong. Two lines in particular I have given thought to many times over the years- “Barriers were built to make us forget blood ties, And now we aren`t as one and egos benefits on lies”
This is a very powerful statement. It is in fact different sub cultures- goth, prep, jock, skinhead, etc, that keep us divided and fighting against ourselves. We are all part of the same family in the end… and our family is dying.

While their existence was short lived I think their contribution to our music scene is invaluable. While there were other hardcore bands in our music scene at the time Teardown was around, I really think it was Teardown that set the bar and pushed hardcore music to the forefront. Definite Hate- Welcome To The South Re- Release

Definite Hate is a band that I have been into before even their debut cd was released. As a collector I try and grab up things of interest and one of these things was a demo cassette put out years ago featuring Definite Hate and Riot Wing. It had a good sound quality but what really blew me away were the lyrics. They were no holds barred pissed off in your face southern white boy aggression that at the time really appealed to me. Since then they have released two cd`s, the first being the split with Riot Wing, and the second a full length titled Welcome To The South. Their full length took a bit of different sound which reminds me a lot of the Bully Boys, as it was a bit more melodic and featured a new singer who has a similar voice. The lyrics on this cd evolved also as they became more focused on working for a better future and preserving what they have- friends, family and land. We will be posting some lyrics from this cd shortly. While copies of the original pressing of Welcome To The South can still be found they are getting scarce, but fortunately it has been repressed by Wewelsburg Records. This new repress is now in stock at Label 56 as well as their original split with Riot Wing, but have not been added to our site yet. New Brutal Grindcore Assault From Anticipate

Grindcore is a music style that is not real popular in our music scene as there have only been a handful of bands that play this style. Fortunately it seems to be spreading it`s influence as the bands that play grindcore have had releases in the last few years as opposed to being something of the past that has faded out. One of these new releases comes from the Polish band Anticipate. While they themselves have been a band since 1998, up until now their releases have all been limited mini cd`s and demo`s. These past releases have been combined on their first full length ‘Killing For A Living’ to make for a pummeling musical assault. I recently received copies of this cd and I am blown away by it. It truly is a brutal and violent “ultra grinding assault”! This cd is now in stock at Label 56

Fear Rains Down Interview

Radio Autonom recently did an interview with hardcore band Fear Rains Down. In this interview they discuss among other things how 4 members from different parts of the world contribute and record. They also discuss some politics as well as the Straight Edge lifesyle. Check it out here
